Bengaluru Teacher's Meager Salary of Rs 6,000 Raises Worrying Questions About Living Wages in India's IT Hubs
Low Teacher Salaries Spark Debate in Bengaluru
A recent social media post has ignited a heated discussion about wages in the education sector and the rising cost of living in Bengaluru, India's tech hub. The post, shared by an X user named Mohamed Nowsath, claimed that a private school teacher in Bengaluru was offered a monthly salary of just Rs 6,000.
The discussion began after Nowsath expressed his disbelief at the contrast between rising school fees and the extremely low compensation for educators. His sister-in-law had reportedly secured a job as a playschool or kindergarten teacher in Bengaluru, and Nowsath pointed out the stark difference in salary compared to the rising cost of living in the city.
