OpenAI Establishes New Company to Drive Enterprise AI Adoption

OpenAI has announced the establishment of a new company, the OpenAI Deployment Company, with an initial investment of more than $4 billion to help organizations build and deploy artificial intelligence systems. This move comes as the company seeks to expand its presence in the business world, where its AI models have seen significant resonance with consumers.

The OpenAI Deployment Company will be majority owned and controlled by OpenAI, and its primary objective will be to embed engineers specializing in frontier AI deployment into organizations. These engineers will work closely with various teams to identify areas where AI can make the biggest impact. This strategic move is part of OpenAI's efforts to establish a large presence in the business world, where its AI will see large-scale deployment.

The new company will be supported by a multi-year committed partnership between OpenAI and 19 firms, led by TPG, with Advent, Bain Capital, and Brookfield as co-lead founding partners. This partnership will provide a solid foundation for the OpenAI Deployment Company to drive enterprise AI adoption.

Acquisition of Tomoro

As part of its expansion efforts, OpenAI is acquiring Tomoro, a consulting firm that helps enterprises deploy AI. Tomoro, which was formed in 2023 in alliance with OpenAI, counts companies such as Mattel, Red Bull, Tesco, and Virgin Atlantic as its clients. The acquisition will bring around 150 experienced AI engineers and "deployment specialists" to the new unit, providing a significant boost to its capabilities.
