Indian Army Pilot's Public Proposal Sparks Debate After Viral Video Emerges
Indian Army Officer's Surprise Marriage Proposal Sparks Debate
A day meant to celebrate years of hard work has sparked a heated debate across social media. Army Aviation Captain Bharat Bhardwaj proposed to his girlfriend, Arushi, following a graduation ceremony parade at the Combat Army Aviation Training School (CAATS) in Nashik, Maharashtra, on Tuesday.
The proposal took place shortly after Captain Bhardwaj graduated from the programme. He walked onto the tarmac in his ceremonial military uniform and went down on one knee with an engagement ring, with an Army helicopter parked nearby forming the backdrop. Family members, fellow officers, instructors, and guests watched the moment unfold.
Videos of the proposal quickly spread across social media, with clips showing a surprised Arushi accepting the proposal as cheers and applause broke out around the couple. The moment was meant to be a personal one, but it soon became a topic of discussion across the internet.

Captain Bhardwaj, in an interview with ANI, explained why he chose that particular day to propose. He stated that it was a big day for all of them, as they had become pilots and instructors. He and Arushi had known each other for five years, and he didn't think there was a better day to propose marriage to her.
Many social media users praised the officer for celebrating two major life moments on the same day. Some users commented, "Beautifully grab the chance to settle down. Well-done Capt.," "Classy way to celebrate a milestone. Respect," and "Bro celebrated two happiness at once."
However, not everyone felt the same way. As the video gained more attention, some users questioned whether a proposal was appropriate at a defence training institution. They argued that creating a scene to gain fame was the real objective and that there should be disciplinary action.
