Asia-Pacific Stocks Plummet: Nikkei and Kospi Suffer 4% Decline Amid Technology Sector Weakness
Asian Markets Trade Lower Amid Technology Stock Selloff
Asian stock markets traded lower on Monday, with technology stocks experiencing significant selling pressure. Samsung Electronics Co., a leading technology firm, saw its shares fall following the company's earnings report.
The Kospi, South Korea's benchmark stock market index, declined by 4%, while the smaller Kosdaq index slipped 0.72%. Japan's Nikkei 225 index traded marginally lower, but the broader Topix index edged up 0.60%. Australia's benchmark S&P/ASX 200 also declined, falling 0.12%.
Hong Kong's Hang Seng index futures were trading at 23,571, below the benchmark's previous close of 23,616.32. The decline in Asian markets was driven in part by technology stocks, which were among the biggest laggards.
