Tamil Nadu Government Formation Uncertainty: Zoho Co-Founder Sridhar Vembu Calls for President's Rule and Fresh Elections
Tamil Nadu is facing uncertainty over government formation, with the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) yet to present official numbers. The situation has led Zoho co-founder and chief scientist Sridhar Vembu to call for President's rule and fresh elections in the state.
Vembu took to X to express his views, stating that the numbers do not seem to add up, and any government formed will be unstable with various pulls and pressures. He believes that President's rule with fresh elections may be the best course, with a strict enforcement of "no cash for votes." This, he says, will allow the people to decide afresh, and he thinks that the @TVKVijayHQ will come back with a super majority.
The TVK won 108 seats in the 234-member Assembly, falling 10 short of the majority mark. The party's effective strength would reduce to 107 if party chief Vijay vacates one of his two seats. TVK has also secured the support of five Congress MLAs, despite contesting the polls as part of the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK)-led alliance.

Meanwhile, Vijay met Tamil Nadu Governor Rajendra Arlekar at Raj Bhavan on Wednesday as part of efforts to stake claim to form the government. Vijay won from Tiruchirapalli East and Perambur, proving that his charisma is not limited to cinema.
The situation remains uncertain, with the Governor remaining unconvinced about TVK's majority claim. Vembu's remarks have added to the uncertainty, and it remains to be seen how the situation will unfold.
