Claims and Allegations

The lawsuit, filed on behalf of the boy's guardian, alleges negligence, negligent hiring, supervision, training, and retention, as well as battery against Felicia Boyd, Sierra Elementary School, and the school district. The complaint states that Felicia Boyd possessed a controlled substance on school premises and administered cannabis-laced candy to students, resulting in physical, mental, and emotional injuries.

Details of the Incident

The boys' aunt reported that they became unwell after eating the gummies, with one nephew stating that he "couldn't feel his body." The candy in question was identified as exotic dragonfruit-flavoured Nano Gummies, which contained 20 mg of THC, the psychoactive compound that causes a high.

Regulatory Context

According to the California Department of Public Health, children are more vulnerable to poisoning due to their inability to distinguish cannabis edibles from regular sweets. The agency advises parents to call poison control or dial 911 during emergencies.

Court Proceedings

Lawyers involved in the case are scheduled to appear in court on June 15.
