Burnout in the Tech Industry: A Growing Concern

A 24-year-old tech professional from Bengaluru, who earns around Rs 8 lakh per month, has taken to social media to share his struggles with burnout despite appearing successful on paper. In a post shared on Reddit, he reveals that his life may look ideal from the outside, but the reality is far from it.

The tech professional works over 12 hours a day and has been dealing with severe sleep issues for the past few months. He struggles to fall asleep at night, and even when he does sleep, it's shallow. Most days, he wakes up tired and pushes through. He shares that people often assume a high salary brings happiness and stability, but his experience has been the opposite. Constant work pressure has left him with little energy, and even weekends no longer feel like proper rest.

The post has sparked a discussion online, with many users relating to the growing issue of burnout in the tech industry and the pressure of high-paying jobs in fast-paced work environments. One user shared a similar experience, working a 100% travelling job with 12-hour days, many of which require standing. On their one day off, they get pretty comatose. They had to learn stretching exercises, some meditation, taking proper supplements, and remembering to stay in contact with friends and family.

Another user suggested that the tech professional should "stop complaining and keep doing what you have to." However, this response was met with criticism from others who pointed out that burnout is a serious issue that requires attention and action.
