Freelancer's Worst Nightmare: Rs 3,000 Website Project Turns into Uncomfortable Experience
A recent post by a developer on X has shed light on the unusual details of a client's behavior that made a Rs 3,000 website project turn into a nightmare. The engineer, who shared the experience on his social media account, described how the project's duration and scope were extended due to the client's insistence on long meetings and conversations that had little to do with the project.
The project, which was not technically challenging, was accepted by the engineer from a freelance client who claimed to have 17 years of experience as a manager at a WITCH company. However, things took a turn for the worse when the client insisted on daily meetings lasting around two hours, which often had little to do with the project. The engineer also revealed that the client was interested in astrology and even asked for his date of birth to make predictions.
The situation became uncomfortable for the engineer, and he eventually decided to complete the remaining work quickly and exit the project after delivery. However, the client's response was reportedly dismissive and firm, adding to the engineer's frustration. After blocking the client, the engineer found that the client had posted saying the project was underpaid and also raised concerns about idea ownership.

| 1 | "I underpaid my developer. He made my website quickly for really cheap." |
| 2 | "If I ever stole his startup idea, there would be consequences." |
The engineer concluded that he would no longer take extremely low-paid projects going forward, as the experience highlighted the hidden costs of undercharging. The post has since sparked discussion among freelancers online, with some users commenting that the Rs 3,000 project was the "costliest" of the engineer's life, while others described the client as "crazy" for expecting such a high level of commitment for a low fee.
