IPOSEDEMAC Mechatronics Initiates Unconventional Risk Assessment Survey for Investors
In a bid to enhance transparency and empower investors to make informed decisions, SEDEMAC Mechatronics, a recently listed control electronics maker, has released a 'Risk Assessment Survey'. The firm's founder and managing director, Shashikanth Suryanarayanan, believes that open discussions about risks can lead to better buy, sell, or hold decisions.
The survey was sent to 20 institutional investors and analysts, chosen for their "mature understanding" of SEDEMAC's business and the corresponding risks. The respondents included ten domestic institutional investors, five foreign institutional investors, and five pre-IPO investors who maintained a significant holding. The risks included in the survey were distinct from those listed in the firm's red herring prospectus (RHP) during the IPO process.
The survey allowed participants to flag risks they considered most material, while also giving the company's management the opportunity to identify and prioritize risks. By sharing this information with investors, SEDEMAC aims to provide a better insight into the firm and its business, while also giving experienced investors a chance to share their views.
According to Suryanarayanan, the company is not seeking a specific reaction from investors. Instead, the goal is to provide meaningful information that can aid in buy, hold, or sell decisions. While refraining from explicitly urging other listed companies to adopt similar practices, Suryanarayanan believes that greater transparency around risks can contribute to the deepening of India's capital markets over time.
