Phone Thefts Reported at Bengaluru Stadium During Recent Cricket Match
Concerns Over Security at Chinnaswamy Stadium Following Viral Video Alleging Widespread Phone Thefts
A Bengaluru woman has sparked concern online after alleging that multiple spectators lost their mobile phones during the RCB vs SRH match at Chinnaswamy Stadium on Saturday. The incident has raised questions about security arrangements at the venue. According to the woman, phone thefts appeared to be widespread within her stand, with her husband's phone being stolen when he stepped away to grab refreshments during the break. Several others around them reportedly experienced similar incidents.
Despite approaching police personnel stationed inside the stadium, the woman alleged that they did not receive any immediate assistance. The incident has triggered a wave of reactions on social media, with many users sharing similar experiences and expressing frustration over the lack of on-ground response. One user recalled nearly being pickpocketed near a metro station after a match, claiming the individual involved blended seamlessly into the crowd and appeared to be part of a group.
The woman, who has filed an FIR at Cubbon Park police station, also suggested that the thefts may not be random. She claimed that there could be an organised network involved, pointing to what she described as a recurring pattern seen in other cities. In her statement, she alleged that some minors wearing RCB jerseys were caught stealing phones and were reportedly carrying complimentary match tickets, indicating a coordinated operation rather than isolated incidents.
