Prego Introduces "Connection Keeper" Device to Record Family Conversations
A US-based pasta sauce brand, Prego, has partnered with StoryCorps to launch a unique product aimed at capturing family conversations during meals. The "Connection Keeper", a small, screen-free device, has been designed to sit at the center of a dining table and record conversations without the presence of phones or digital distractions.
The device features a single-button recording system and is capable of storing up to eight hours of audio on a microSD card. Recordings can be transferred using a USB-C connection and uploaded, stored, or shared at the user's discretion. The limited-edition device is priced at approximately $20 (around Rs 1,900) and fewer than 100 units are expected to be produced.
According to StoryCorps, the collaboration aligns with its broader goal of preserving everyday conversations. The archive is housed at the US Library of Congress, and users of the device may choose to submit their recordings for preservation. Elyce Henkin, managing director of StoryCorps studios and brand partnerships, emphasized that the initiative aims to get rid of digital distractions and encourage face-to-face conversations.
