OMCs Enhance LPG Production, Prioritizing Domestic Supply
LPG Production Boosted Amid Global Fuel Supply Disruptions
Indian Oil Corporation Limited, Bharat Petroleum Corporation, and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation have joined forces to enhance Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) production and prioritize its availability for domestic consumers. In a joint statement, the companies confirmed that the Ministry has taken steps to increase LPG production while securing stocks for domestic customers and essential non-domestic sectors.
The Ministry has invoked the Essential Commodities Act (EC Act) to safeguard the domestic energy market amidst growing pressure on global fuel supplies due to the ongoing West Asia conflict. A control order has been issued directing refineries and petrochemical units to maximize LPG production and divert key hydrocarbon streams to the LPG pool.
