NEET UG Re-examination Scheduled for June 21 Amid Paper Leak Row
The National Testing Agency (NTA) has announced that the re-examination for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test Undergraduate - NEET (UG) 2026 will be held on June 21. The agency made the announcement with the approval of the Government of India, citing the need for a fresh examination in the wake of a paper leak controversy.
According to the NTA, a high-level meeting was held on Thursday at the residence of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan to review preparations for conducting the exam afresh. Candidates and parents are advised to rely only on official channels of the NTA for updates and information.
The NEET-UG 2026 examination, which was conducted on May 3, was cancelled after a guess paper containing over 400 questions, including substantial matches exceeding 120 questions in Biology and Chemistry, circulated widely across WhatsApp and Telegram groups before the examination. The cancellation of the examination sparked protests by student organisations in several states, while opposition parties raised concerns over the credibility of the examination system and sought accountability from the authorities.
