Nifty Midcap 100 Hits All-Time High
The Nifty Midcap 100 index reached an all-time high in Tuesday's trade, with select stocks such as Adani Total Gas experiencing significant gains of up to 8 percent. This milestone comes as the index rose for the third consecutive session, despite benchmarks facing pressure.
At around 2 pm, the Sensex was trading at 76,068.43, down 420.53 points or 0.55 percent, while the Nifty stood at 23,936.05, down 95.65 points or 0.4 percent. The Nifty Smallcap 100 also demonstrated resilience, rising up to 0.2 percent.
Ajit Mishra, Senior Vice President of Research at Religare Broking, attributed the broader markets' outperformance to the strong performance of midcap and smallcap counters during the earnings season and consistent retail flows. According to Mishra, indications suggest that this outperformance will continue, but participants should exercise caution and selectively pick counters, avoiding averaging laggards in hopes of a rebound.
