Rajan Tandon Retires as Head of Mittal Family Office
Rajan Tandon, the head of the Mittal Family Office, has retired on March 31, bringing an end to his 35-year association with billionaire industrialist Lakshmi N Mittal and his business interests, as stated by Mittal Investments.
During his tenure at the family office, Tandon served as a board director across several investment platforms, including HPCL-Mittal Energy Limited, a joint venture between Mittal Investments and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited, as well as the LNM Institute of Information Technology, a public-private partnership with the Rajasthan government.
Tandon's career with the Mittal group spans over three and a half decades, beginning in 1990 at Ispat Indo in Indonesia, one of Mittal’s early steel ventures. He moved into the family office in 2007 after nearly two decades in corporate finance across group entities such as Ispat International, Mittal Steel, and ArcelorMittal. Ten years later, in 2017, he took on the lead role as head of the family office.

In a statement, Lakshmi N Mittal, billionaire industrialist and head of Mittal Investments, described Rajan Tandon as a “trusted” and “highly valued” member of the team who has been with the group since its early days in Indonesia. Mittal added that Tandon would continue to provide some support from India in a personal capacity even after retirement.
