Mahakumbh Participant Monalisa Defends Marriage to Farman Khan Amid 'Love Jihad' Allegations
Marriage Between Monalisa and Farman Khan Attracts Controversy
Monalisa, widely known as the "viral Mahakumbh girl", recently tied the knot with her boyfriend Farman Khan in Kerala. The marriage took place on Wednesday evening at the Nayanar Temple in Arumanoor near Poovar.
The couple's relationship has been subject to claims of "love jihad", which they strongly denied. Monalisa stated that her relationship with Farman is based on mutual love and respect for each other's faith, and that their wedding followed Hindu customs and traditions. Farman also clarified that he had never asked Monalisa to convert to Islam.
Monalisa and Farman approached the Thampanoor Police Station in Thiruvananthapuram earlier in the day, accompanied by a film crew. Monalisa alleged that her father was attempting to take her back home against her wishes, citing opposition from her relatives due to Farman's religion. However, Monalisa made it clear that she was a legally adult individual, as confirmed by her 2008 birth certificate, and therefore free to make her own decisions regarding marriage.
