Indus Towers Appoints Venkatesh Tiwari as New Chief Operating Officer
Telecom infrastructure major Indus Towers has announced the appointment of Venkatesh Tiwari as its new Chief Operating Officer (COO), effective April 1, 2026. This move marks the beginning of a planned transition, as Tejinder Singh Kalra, the current COO, is set to retire on August 31, 2026, upon reaching superannuation.
Kalra will continue in his role as COO until June 30, 2026, to ensure a smooth and seamless transition. With effect from July 1, 2026, he will cease to be a senior management personnel of the company and continue with the company until his retirement to facilitate a structured transition process.
Venkatesh Tiwari brings close to 28 years of leadership experience across sectors including e-commerce, telecommunications, consumer electronics, and logistics. He is currently associated with Amazon, where he has held multiple leadership roles and driven significant business growth. At Amazon, he led key verticals such as Amazon Now, Seller Fulfilment, and third-party logistics (3PL), and played a central role in launching quick commerce offerings in India.

Tiwari's experience at Amazon includes launching one of the fastest quick-commerce launches in the company's global network, forging strategic partnerships, and expanding the company's delivery footprint across all pin codes in India. Prior to this, he handled senior operational roles across middle-mile and last-mile networks at Amazon India.
Earlier in his career, Tiwari worked with Samsung, Bharti Airtel, and Perfetti Van Melle, where he held leadership roles spanning operations, customer service, and sales and marketing. He holds a B.Tech in Electronics and Communications from BIT Mesra and an MBA in Marketing and International Business from Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies.
