The High Cost of Chasing a Better Future Abroad

For many individuals, moving abroad is seen as a clear step towards a better future. However, the reality of this journey can be far more complicated than it seems. An Indian woman's account, shared on Instagram, highlights the financial pressure and uncertainty that can come with trying to build a career overseas.

Mahi's experience is a stark reminder of the costs involved in navigating a new country and job market. Over the course of three years, she spent a significant amount of money on various expenses. Her monthly rent in a shared flat in Germany came to €600, totaling €21,600 (around Rs 23.5 lakh). In addition to her living expenses, she also spent €2,000 (Rs 2.1 lakh) on German language courses, which are often necessary to improve job chances.

Mahi's studies also came with significant costs. University semester fees were over €3,000 (Rs 3.2 lakh), and she paid a €600 monthly EMI for a private university, totaling €10,800 (Rs 11.7 lakh) over 18 months. Furthermore, she spent more than €5,000 (Rs 5.4 lakh) on student health insurance and kept money in a blocked account, a requirement for international students in Germany, which amounted to €11,208 (Rs 12.2 lakh).

I graduated bachelors then went for masters, didn't have a job, no permanent house and lot of financial issues then after some time things changed got a good agricultural business a good house then all debts cleared and note the point I came here in 2022 till 2024 I was in the broke stage but just within a year all things changed so good luck to you."
