
Indian Air Force Confirms Fatalities in Sukhoi Su-30 Crash, Expresses Condolences
Indian Air Force Su-30MKI Fighter Jet Crash

A Sukhoi Su-30MKI fighter jet of the Indian Air Force (IAF) crashed while on a training mission in Assam's Karbi Anglong district. The incident resulted in the fatal injuries of Sqn Ldr Anuj and Flt Lt Purvesh Duragkar.
The aircraft, which took off from Jorhat, Assam, lost radar contact at 7:42 pm. A search and rescue mission was initiated, but the crash site, approximately 60 km from Jorhat, did not yield any immediate results.

The Su-30MKI, a two-seater fighter jet developed by Sukhoi, is manufactured under license by HAL (Hindustan Aeronautics Limited) for the IAF. The IAF has a fleet of over 200 Su-30MKIs, which were first inducted into the force in 1997.
This incident is the latest in a series of Sukhoi crashes, including a similar incident in June 2024 in the Nashik district of Maharashtra, and another in January 2023, which occurred after taking off from the Gwalior airbase.
