India Seen as Emerging as Major Market for ServiceNow: Interview with President Amit Zavery
ServiceNow Sees India as a Key Growth Market for Enterprise AI Adoption
ServiceNow, a leading enterprise workflow and AI automation software provider, is betting big on India's AI adoption push, with the country emerging as one of its fastest-growing and strategically important markets. According to Amit Zavery, president, chief product officer, and chief operating officer, India is among ServiceNow's top global markets and could soon become its biggest growth engine in the Asia-Pacific region.
India is expected to drive growth for ServiceNow, with 20% of its workforce based in the country. In fact, one in three engineers globally work out of India, a testament to the company's significant investment in the region. ServiceNow has established a strong presence in India, with offices in Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Gurugram, and Mumbai, and plans to further expand its operations as demand grows.
The company is leveraging India's talent pool to develop its full product lineup, with product leaders, engineers, and designers working closely together to drive innovation. "A lot of the work we are talking about nowadays is fully built in India in many cases," Zavery noted.
ServiceNow's focus on India comes at a time when governments globally, including India, are tightening rules around AI governance, data protection, and sovereign cloud infrastructure. However, Zavery emphasized that India's evolving data protection and digital governance frameworks are not unreasonable, and the company is confident in its ability to comply with emerging regulations.
The company is positioning its "AI Control Tower" as a platform for organizations to monitor internal AI usage, track compliance, and manage governance centrally. Zavery noted growing interest from government agencies and public sector organizations in India, which are exploring AI-driven automation for citizen services and internal workflows.
| Country | Asia-Pacific Growth Engine Potential |
|---|---|
| India | 100% |
| China | 80% |
| Japan | 60% |
| South Korea | 40% |
According to Zavery, the Indian government and public sector are increasingly exploring AI-driven automation for citizen services and internal workflows. "The good thing about the Indian government sector is they're very ambitious," he said. "The conversations are around how we use AI to improve services, automate business processes, and help citizens."
