Concerns Raised After Toddler Left Unattended and Injured Following Caregiver's Sudden Departure
Singaporean Actress' Distressing Experience Highlights Importance of Trust and Responsibility in Domestic Help
Singapore-based actress Sora Ma recently shared a harrowing experience that has left her and her young son shaken. The actress, 42, revealed that her toddler son, Skye, was injured after a domestic helper allegedly left him unattended during a recent trip to Kuala Lumpur.
According to Ma, she had trusted the helper deeply and believed she would stay with the family for a long time. The Malaysian-born actress has been raising her son on her own since her husband's passing in 2024. Although the helper was not "the best with housework," Ma had praised her for being "amazing" with her son.
However, trust was shaken when Ma returned home earlier than expected. Upon entering the house, she found her son crying uncontrollably, with a red face and visible signs of distress. The helper was nowhere to be found, and her shoes had been removed.

Ma quickly took action, asking her aunt to look for the helper. The helper was eventually found and brought back five minutes later, claiming she had gone out "for a while" to meet a friend. Ma felt that the situation was not taken seriously and that there was no sincere apology, leading her to dismiss the helper.
The incident has left Ma's son with emotional scars, as he now wakes up at night crying for her and feels secure enough to fall asleep only when lying on top of her. Ma also noted that her son now requires someone by his side during his afternoon nap, a significant change from his previous behavior.
The incident has sparked strong reactions online, particularly from parents who also rely on domestic helpers. Many have shared their thoughts on Ma's post, with some expressing their own experiences and others offering words of support. Ma's reflection on the experience, "There are moments in motherhood that don't leave you. This is one of them," resonates with many parents who have faced similar challenges.
