Standup Comedian Yash Bhardwaj Detained in Dubai for 47 Days
Standup comedian Yash Bhardwaj has revealed that he was held by authorities in Dubai for 47 days before being deported to India. Bhardwaj shared the incident on Instagram, stating that it left him emotionally exhausted.
The detention and subsequent deportation of Bhardwaj came after he shared a lighthearted reel about Google Maps not working in Dubai amid reports of conflict in the Middle East involving the US and Iran. The video, shared in March, reportedly led to a police call for Bhardwaj, after which he was detained for 47 days.
Bhardwaj was detained on March 19, while he was at a gig in Dubai, and was asked to report to the Dubai Police HQ immediately. He was detained and arrested as a perceived national security threat, and spent 47 days in a detention centre.
