A speech delivered in Canada's Parliament has sparked significant attention online after a Member of Parliament used an extended acronym while addressing concerns around violence and funding cuts affecting Indigenous communities. Leah Gazan, a Member of Parliament, has become the focus of discussion following the circulation of a video clip in which she spoke about reductions in support for Indigenous organisations and the continued risks faced by vulnerable groups.

During her remarks, Gazan stated that the Canadian government needed to "deal with the ongoing genocide of MMIWG2SLGBTQQIA+". However, others attempted to clarify the meaning behind the acronym. One user explained that the acronym stood for Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls, Two-Spirit, and LGBTQ+ people, and that it referred to an ongoing genocide. Users also turned to the AI chatbot Grok for clarification, which provided a detailed explanation of the acronym's meaning.

The original poster later added context about Gazan's role, stating that she is an elected representative of the Canadian federal government and that her comments were part of a parliamentary speech.
