BJP Leader K Annamalai Expected to Leave Party Amid Fresh Political Developments in Tamil Nadu
BJP Leader K Annamalai May Launch New Movement Amid Speculation Over His Future
Weeks after the C Joseph-led TVK government took office, a new political buzz has taken over the corridors in the state of Tamil Nadu. Several reports suggest that Bharatiya Janata Party's former poster boy K Annamalai may exit the party and launch his own 'new movement'.
The development comes after Annamalai was replaced as state party chief earlier this year and was not given a ticket to contest the state assembly elections. The buzz gained momentum on Monday, with posters of Annamalai emerging across Coimbatore and Madurai. These posters, reportedly put up by his supporters, have urged the former Tamil Nadu BJP chief to take his 'next avatar' to 'save Tamil Nadu'.
According to a News18 report, BJP leader K Annamalai is expected to travel to Delhi soon for what sources described as a likely "farewell meeting" with the party leadership amid ongoing speculation about his future political plans. The report said Annamalai is considering launching a movement initially focused on social and ideological issues rather than electoral politics.

Sources told News18 that the proposed platform is likely to be centred around a "Nationalist-Tamil" philosophy, which is expected to form its core ideological framework. News18 reported that Annamalai is seeking an honourable and mutually acceptable transition from his current role and is keen on holding open discussions with the BJP leadership. Sources indicated that he does not want to antagonise the party and intends to maintain cordial relations with its leadership.
The report also dismissed speculation that Annamalai is negotiating for a berth in the Union Cabinet, with sources terming such claims incorrect. Sources quoted by News18 further said that the RSS leadership is keen for Annamalai to continue in public life, irrespective of the nature of his future role.
The report also noted Annamalai's long-standing opposition to the BJP's alliance with the AIADMK under Edappadi K Palaniswami (EPS). Sources said he believes subsequent political developments in Tamil Nadu have validated his position on the alliance. There has been no official statement from Annamalai or the BJP regarding these reported developments.
