Bengaluru's Grip on Professionals: Why Many Can't Leave

Many people across India move to big cities for work, often with a clear plan to stay for only a few years before returning home. However, for many professionals, that plan gradually changes as work life and daily routines settle in, making it harder to leave than expected.

Bengaluru is one such city where this pattern is often seen. People arrive for job opportunities, especially in the IT and startup sectors, but many end up staying for much longer. The city continues to attract professionals from different parts of the country, even with its well-known challenges such as traffic congestion, rising rent and a busy lifestyle.

A recent social media post has once again brought this experience into focus. A man from Bihar shared his thoughts on why Bengaluru continues to hold people back, even when they face difficulties in daily life. According to the post, more than half of the salary of many professionals goes into rent for big apartments, making it difficult for them to leave.

Bengaluru is not the only city in India with strong job opportunities. Major cities such as Gurgaon, Delhi, Hyderabad, Mumbai, and Chennai also have established IT and corporate sectors. However, the city's climate and overall environment make it stand out for many people.

The video sparked a wide range of reactions, with some users agreeing with the viewpoint that Bengaluru's climate and environment make it an attractive place to stay. Others, however, questioned whether such factors are enough to justify staying in a high-cost urban setup. Some users suggested that work-from-home options could be the key to enticing professionals to leave the city, citing that 80% of outsiders would return to their hometowns if given the opportunity.
