India's Largest Milk Producers Hike Prices Amid Rising Costs

The latest revisions cover key milk categories sold by both brands, including full cream milk, toned milk, cow milk, buffalo milk, and premium variants across multiple markets. The circular stated that the revised Mother Dairy prices would apply to milk supplied from the night of May 13 and sold in the market from the morning of May 14. Both companies have periodically revised milk prices over the past few years as procurement and operating costs moved higher across the dairy sector.
The hike is set to hit consumers across markets, further straining household budgets already under pressure. Organised dairy players have previously cited increases in cattle feed, transportation, packaging, and procurement expenses while announcing retail price hikes. India's dairy industry has seen multiple rounds of milk price revisions since 2022, with both cooperative and private players adjusting retail prices in phases across states. Companies including Amul, Mother Dairy, and Nandini have announced revisions at different intervals depending on regional procurement conditions and input costs.
