AIADMK Suffers Fresh Setback as Senior Leader Esakki Subaya Steps Down
Tamil Nadu Politics in Turmoil as AIADMK Leader Submits Printed Resignation Letter
In a dramatic development in Tamil Nadu politics, Dr Esakki Subaya, the leader of the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK), resigned from the party on Tuesday. However, the situation took an unexpected turn when he submitted a resignation letter that was printed rather than handwritten.
According to reports, Speaker JCD Prabhakar asked Subaya to provide a handwritten resignation letter instead. Following this request, Dr Esakki Subaya stated that he would return with the handwritten letter within 10 minutes. This procedural confusion has sparked debate and raised questions about the legitimacy of the resignation.
The resignation comes on the heels of a significant shift in Tamil Nadu politics. On Monday, three AIADMK MLAs - Maragatham Kumaravel, Jayakumar, and Sathyabama - resigned from the Tamil Nadu Assembly and subsequently joined the TVK led by Chief Minister Vijay. The MLAs submitted their resignations to the Tamil Nadu Assembly Speaker, who accepted the resignations.
