According to an official memorandum issued by UIDAI, Aadhaar details can now be updated free of cost until June 14, 2027. Earlier, the deadline for free Aadhaar updates was scheduled to end on June 15, 2026.
The complimentary service is available only through the myAadhaar portal, where users can update crucial Aadhaar information such as address, mobile number, or other personal details. The deadline extension aims to provide citizens with more time to update their Aadhaar details without incurring additional charges.

How to Update Aadhaar Documents Online

- Log in using Aadhaar number and OTP.
- Upload scanned copies of valid PoI and PoA documents.
- Submit the request online.
- Save the 14-digit Update Request Number (URN) to track the application status.
Charges for Updating Aadhaar Card Details
The charges for updating Aadhaar details vary depending on the type of update. Biometric updates, including fingerprints, iris scan, and photograph, are free for the first update between ages 5 and 7 years and for the first or second update between ages 15 and 17 years, while other biometric updates cost Rs 125. Additionally, biometric updates for children between 7 and 15 years are free till September 30, 2026. Demographic updates such as name, gender, date of birth, address, mobile number, or email are free when done along with a biometric update, but cost Rs 75 if done separately. For document updates involving proof of identity and address, updates through the myAadhaar portal are currently free till June 14, 2027, while updates at Aadhaar centres cost Rs 75.
