Indian Stock Market Benchmarks Suffer Losses on Tuesday
The Indian stock market benchmarks, the Sensex and the Nifty 50, experienced a downturn on Tuesday, April 7, following a three-session rise. In the first half of the session, the Nifty 50 declined by 1% to reach an intraday low of 22,719, while the 30-share pack Sensex dropped over 800 points, or more than 1%, to the day's low of 73,282.
However, both indices managed to pare losses and traded with minor losses of 0.50% around 11 am. The most traded stocks on the NSE included Vodafone Idea, PC Jeweller, Ola Electric Mobility, Jaiprakash Power Ventures, Brainbees Solutions, YES Bank, GTL Infrastructure, Tata Gold Exchange Traded Fund, and Reliance Power.
A total of 17 crore shares of Vodafone Idea changed hands by 11 am, with the stock declining over 2% in morning deals. This comes after the company added a net of 21,927 users in February, taking its base to 198.4 million, according to Trai data released on Wednesday.

PC Jeweller also experienced significant trading activity, with over 8 crore shares changing hands as the stock surged almost 10% in early deals. However, the company pared most of those gains quickly, with shares trading at 2% up by 11 am.
Ola Electric Mobility saw over 7 crore shares change hands as the stock declined nearly 3% during the first half of the session. This decline came after the company announced a strong business performance for March, with registrations surging 150% year-on-year to 10,117 units.

Jaiprakash Power Ventures also saw significant trading activity, with over 4 crore shares changing hands as the stock rose nearly 5% in early trade. The Supreme Court on Monday refused to stay the implementation of Adani Enterprises' ₹14,543 crore resolution plan for Jaiprakash Associates, rejecting a challenge by mining major Vedanta.
