Viral Video from India Exposes Identity of Alleged Pregnant Woman in Distressing Harassment Incident
Viral Video Sparks Outrage on Social Media, But Creator Says Narrative Was Deceptively Edited
A viral video has sparked outrage on social media, with claims that a Korean content creator, Sumin, was harassed while celebrating Holi in India. The clip quickly spread across platforms, attracting millions of views and triggering angry reactions from users who believed they were watching a disturbing incident unfold.
However, according to Sumin, the footage was deceptively edited by combining videos from two different countries and presenting them as a single event. The creator, who has been at the centre of the controversy, has now stepped in to challenge the claims.
The video, which has been viewed by millions, showed Sumin dressed as a pregnant woman. However, Sumin says that this footage was filmed in Bangladesh, not India. The scenes from the Holi festival, meanwhile, were recorded during a separate visit to India. According to Sumin, someone later stitched the unrelated clips together, creating a version of events that never happened.

Concerned by the growing spread of the edited video, Sumin issued a public clarification and accused those behind the clip of using his content to spread misinformation. In a statement posted on Threads, Sumin explained that his content is intended to showcase different cultures and experiences rather than provoke controversy.
He wrote, "Hello, this is Sumin, the creator of the video content currently being circulated. I am writing to address the recent misuse of my videos, which have been deceptively edited to incite hostility toward a specific country. I find it deeply troubling that my content is being manipulated for the purpose of spreading misinformation and fueling hatred. I would like to clarify the facts..."
Sumin also responded to another claim that gained attention online, namely that he attended Holi celebrations while dressed as a pregnant woman. According to the creator, that interpretation is entirely false.

He said, "Clarification on My Appearance during the Holi Festival: In the footage of me enjoying the Holi festival in India, I am appearing as myself—nothing more, nothing less. Claims that I was cross-dressing or pretending to be a pregnant woman simply because I have long hair are entirely baseless. These interpretations are malicious fabrications that ignore the actual context of the video."
Sumin further explained that he will take necessary actions to protect his intellectual property and reputation, including reporting the unauthorized and defamatory edits.
