Vodafone Idea Expands 5G Network in West Bengal
Telecom operator Vodafone Idea (Vi) is significantly expanding its 5G network across West Bengal, with a planned rollout in seven more cities by June. This expansion is part of the company's efforts to strengthen its 5G footprint in the region.
According to company officials, the expansion prioritizes industrial hubs, high data consumption centers, and emerging urban clusters. Vi's 5G network was launched in Kolkata and Siliguri last year, and the company has now made the service available in Malda and Haldia. The rollout will soon be extended to Durgapur, Asansol, Habra-Ashoknagar, Burdwan, Kharagpur, Gangtok, and Darjeeling by June.
The expansion strategy is guided by a clear focus on high-demand locations, spanning high-data consumption centers as well as areas with significant footfall, including industrial, commercial, and tourism hubs. This approach is expected to provide enhanced connectivity and improved services to customers in these regions.
