Travelers Stranded in Dubai Turn to Expensive Private Flights for Escape
Air Travel Disruptions in the Gulf Region: Charter Flights Soar in Demand
Tens of thousands of airline passengers are stranded due to the ongoing conflict in the Gulf region, with many seeking alternative routes to escape the area. Wealthy travelers are taking advantage of luxury charter flights to Europe, with prices ranging from €150,000 to €200,000 for flights from the Gulf region to Europe.
The conflict has led to the closure of major airports in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and Doha, Qatar, resulting in a surge in demand for charter flights. Travelers from Dubai are seeking to evacuate by traveling overland to Muscat, Oman, or Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, before boarding commercial flights or charter jets. The scarcity of aircraft has led to a significant increase in prices, with some charter flights doubling in cost.
Private jet brokers such as JET-VIP and Vimana Private Jets are struggling to meet the demand, with CEO Altay Kula stating that "the demand is huge, and we can’t deliver enough aircraft to respond to the demand." Ameerh Naran, CEO of Vimana Private Jets, notes that prices vary depending on the departure point, aircraft type, and route constraints.
