Toyota Kirloskar Motor to Establish New Manufacturing Plant in Maharashtra
Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) announced on Monday that it will be setting up a new manufacturing plant in the Bidkin Industrial Area, Maharashtra, India. The new plant is expected to start production in the first half of 2029.
According to reports in Japanese media, the parent company Toyota Motor plans to invest approximately 300 billion yen (USD 1.9 billion) in Maharashtra for capacity expansion in India. The investments will be utilized to establish the new manufacturing facility, which will have a production capacity of 1 lakh vehicles per year. The plant is expected to create employment opportunities for around 2,800 people.
The new vehicle manufacturing plant will feature main processes such as stamping, welding, painting, and assembly. A new model SUV will be rolled out from the plant, marking a significant development in Toyota's production capabilities in India. The establishment of the new plant is part of Toyota's efforts to strengthen its business foundation in the Indian market.
