Tata Sons Leases Luxury Property The Cabins from Subsidiary Ewart Investments
Tata Sons Ltd, the holding company of the Tata Group, has leased The Cabins, a luxury residential property in Mumbai's upscale Colaba neighbourhood, from its subsidiary Ewart Investments. The lease agreement was registered on February 6, 2026, with an effective start date of October 10, 2024, valid for a period of five years.
Key Terms of the Lease Agreement
- Rent: Starting monthly rent of Rs 17.60 lakh, increasing by 10 percent from April 1, 2027.
- Security Deposit: Interest-free security deposit of Rs 10 crore.
- Stamp Duty: Approximately Rs 4.63 lakh.

- Size: 13,200 square feet.
- Amenities: Extensive range of luxury amenities and fixtures, including a basement, ground, and three upper floors.

Background
The property, previously known as Bakhtawar, has historical ties to the Tata family and was the residence of Ratan Tata, the late chairman of Tata Sons, after his retirement in 2012. Ratan Tata redesigned the property with the help of renowned architect Ratan Batliboi.
