Tata Sons Chief Highlights Synergies Between Jaguar Land Rover and TASL Operations
Tata Advanced Systems Strengthens Synergies with Jaguar Land Rover
Tata Advanced Systems (TASL) has made significant contributions to the value of Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) vehicles, particularly in the areas of navigation aids and optronics, as highlighted by Tata Sons Chairman N Chandrasekaran during a visit to the company's upcoming Defence MRO site near the Bengaluru airport.
TASL, which operates primarily in the aerospace and defence segments, is part of the diversified Tata Group, alongside JLR. During the visit, Chandrasekaran praised the company's land mobility division for expanding its international footprint. According to sources, TASL has supplied over 4,000 multi-axle high-mobility platforms to the Royal Moroccan Army and the Armenian Armed Forces in the last three years.
The Defence MRO facility, set to be commissioned by the end of December this year, will be India's first private defence MRO facility in Bengaluru. Spanning 15,000 square metres on 16 acres of land, the facility will conduct heavy maintenance and avionics upgrades for the Lockheed Martin C130J transport aircraft.

TASL's value additions to JLR Defender vehicles for military applications, including optronics, navigation aids, armouring, and meeting various end uses, were cited as a prime example of synergies between group companies. The company's Chairman was also briefed on the indigenously developed Loitering Munitions (LMs) platform, which boasts an upgraded range with operational ranges extending from 50 kilometres to hundreds of kilometres and heavier payload capabilities.
The Advanced Armoured Platform, jointly designed and built with the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) and integrated with TASL's 30 mm crewless turret, was also showcased. Additionally, Chandrasekaran visited the e-City facility, which houses TASL's strategic UAV programme.
The visit also included a trip to the company's Vemagal facility in the Kolar district of Karnataka, where TASL has set up the Final Assembly Line (FAL) for Airbus H125 helicopters. The Defence Vemagal facilities were also inspected, with a comprehensive review of the C295 wiring harness facility, the Advanced Towed Artillery Gun System (ATAGS), Mounted Gun Systems (MGS), and launcher system integration hangars.
