Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay Rolls Out AI-Powered Agenda for Good Governance as State Polls Loom
Vijay Unveils Ambitious Governance Roadmap for Tamil Nadu
Tamilaga Vetri Kazhagam (TVK) founder and actor-turned-politician Vijay on Sunday announced a third set of poll promises, outlining an ambitious governance roadmap which he called the TVK's agenda for 21st Century good governance, centred on transparency and artificial intelligence (AI).
Vijay's Governance Roadmap
Taking out an election campaign in Kanyakumari district, Vijay said if the TVK comes to power, his government would introduce a Tamil Nadu Citizen Privilege Card, integrating all individual and family details to ensure seamless delivery of welfare schemes automatically from birth without the need for applications or intermediaries. This system would be powered by AI to eliminate delays and corruption in government offices, asserting that there would be no role for middlemen and that benefits would reach people at their doorstep.

| Comparison of Proposed Welfare Schemes | | --- | --- | | Current System | TVK's Proposed System | | Manual applications and intermediaries required | Automatic delivery of benefits from birth | | Bribery to access government services | No need to pay bribes | | Delays in public services linked to bribery | AI-powered system to eliminate delays and corruption |
Vijay also promised that within six months of coming to power, his government would enact a Tamil Nadu Right to Service Act to guarantee time-bound delivery of public services. He also proposed a ‘Vetri Tamil Nadu Super App' to provide services such as driving licences, ration cards, scheme tracking and grievance redressal into a single digital platform accessible on mobile phones. Delays in service delivery would invite action against officials, he added.
Increased Transparency and Public Participation
The actor also promised to bring out a real-time governance dashboard to ensure transparency in public spending and track beneficiaries of government schemes. Emphasising public participation in governance, Vijay also proposed a participatory governance model through a portal, MyVetriTamilnadu.in, where citizens can suggest policies, evaluate services, track expenditure and submit petitions directly to the Assembly.

Boosting Artificial Intelligence and Digital Innovation
Projecting Tamil Nadu as a future hub for artificial intelligence and digital innovation, Vijay said his party would establish the state's first Artificial Intelligence University, create an AI City with global research institutions and set up innovation centres in cities such as Madurai, Coimbatore, Salem and Tiruchy to support deep-tech startups. He also proposed the creation of a dedicated AI ministry.
Election Campaign
Framing the election as a direct contest with the ruling DMK, Vijay said "This is a two-way fight—between TVK and the DMK. Do you want Stalin sir's rule or your Vijay?" He urged voters to back TVK in the elections to be held on April 23 and appealed for support to the party’s whistle symbol.
