Indian Stock Market Opens on a Bullish Note, BSE and NSE to Remain Shut for Bakri Id

The Indian stock market began the last trading week of May with a positive momentum, as the benchmark indices, Sensex and Nifty 50, recorded a gain of over 1% each, buoyed by optimistic global market cues. The US-Iran peace talks and a sharp decline in crude oil prices contributed to the improved investor sentiment.

This week will be a shortened trading week due to a holiday on Thursday, 28 May 2026, as both the BSE and NSE have declared a stock market holiday for Bakri Id. The BSE holiday calendar shows two trading holidays in May, with the first one on 1 May for Maharashtra Day and the second one on May 28.
