
Stock Market Observes Holiday as BSE, NSE Remain Closed for Maharashtra Day; MCX Resumes Trading at 5 PM
India's Stock Market Observes Maharashtra Day Holiday
The Indian stock market will remain closed for trading on Friday, May 1, in observance of Maharashtra Day. As a result, both the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) and the National Stock Exchange (NSE) will suspend trading activity across their equity, derivatives, and SLB segments. Normal trading and market activity will resume on Monday, May 4.
Due to the stock market holiday, the commodity markets will also be affected. The Multi Commodity Exchange of India (MCX) will remain closed during the morning session, from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, but will resume operations in the evening session from 5:00 PM to 11:55 PM. The National Commodity & Derivatives Exchange Limited (NCDEX) will remain shut for both the morning and evening sessions.

Most major stock markets across Asia are also closed today, May 1, in observance of Labour Day. The closure affects markets in China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Singapore, Thailand, Mauritius, Malaysia, Vietnam, Taiwan, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka. In Europe, markets in France, Germany, Greece, Italy, Poland, and others will also have a stock market holiday today due to Labour Day.
