SpaceX Seeks Valuation of Over $2 Trillion in Potential Record-Breaking Initial Public Offering
SpaceX Aims for Record-Breaking IPO Valuation of Over $2 Trillion
Elon Musk's SpaceX is targeting an initial public offering (IPO) valuation of more than $2 trillion, according to a report by Bloomberg News. The rocket, satellite, and AI company is reportedly floating this figure to prospective investors as part of its IPO deliberations, with the goal of achieving the biggest-ever market debut.
The company, which is also the parent firm of artificial intelligence startup xAI, took the confidential route to submit its draft IPO paperwork with the US Securities and Exchange Commission on Wednesday and is targeting a market debut later this year. If the IPO is successful, it would surpass Saudi Aramco's record-breaking debut in 2019.
SpaceX's draft IPO filing is on track for a June listing, positioning it ahead of AI rivals such as Anthropic PBC and OpenAI. The company's boosted valuation could make it one of the most valued businesses, increasing its value by nearly two-thirds in a matter of months. At $2 trillion, SpaceX's valuation would surpass all but five of the companies in the S&P 500 Index: Nvidia, Apple, Alphabet, Microsoft, and Amazon.

The company plans to use the proceeds from the public offering to fund Musk's vision of AI data centers in space and a factory on the moon. This ambitious plan requires significant capital and resources, which Musk controls through several of his companies, including Tesla and SpaceX. The Terafab project, which will be jointly run by Tesla and SpaceX, aims to manufacture chips for robotics, AI, and space data centers.
Key Players in the IPO
SpaceX has picked a team of top banks to handle the IPO, including Bank of America, Citigroup, Goldman Sachs, JPMorgan Chase & Co., and Morgan Stanley. The company has also lined up a call with the broader bank syndicate for Monday and an analyst briefing is scheduled for later in April.
