Regeneron Pharmaceuticals Expands India Footprint with New Global Capability Centre

Regeneron Pharmaceuticals, a leading US biotech major, announced on May 25 the establishment of a global capability centre (GCC) in Hyderabad, marking a significant expansion of its India presence. The facility, expected to become operational in the second half of 2026, will house a diverse range of functions, including clinical development, data management, artificial intelligence, commercial operations, and analytics.

The Regeneron Global Capability Centre represents a substantial investment in the company's future, as Bari Kowal, senior vice president, development operations, noted. Over time, the centre is expected to create hundreds of new roles, underscoring a long-term commitment to India's talent ecosystem.

The Hyderabad GCC builds on Regeneron's existing presence in Bengaluru, reflecting a strategic shift towards distributed global operations. As a New York-headquartered company with 15 approved drugs and nearly 50 candidates in development, Regeneron seeks to leverage India's talent pool to enhance its drug development and digital capabilities.

The centre will integrate teams across statistical programming, clinical trial operations, data science, and digital technologies, areas that are increasingly crucial to modern drug discovery. With clinical trials conducted in approximately 60 countries and therapies marketed across 100 markets, the GCC adds depth to Regeneron's global delivery model.

Hyderabad's emergence as a sought-after destination for GCCs is attributed to its deep talent pool in biotech, AI, and data sciences, as well as established infrastructure such as Genome Valley, one of India's largest life sciences clusters. The state government has been actively promoting this ecosystem to attract global pharma and biotech investments, with the upcoming Green Pharma City expected to further boost capacity.
