Rapido Launches Electric Buggy Services at KSR Bengaluru City Railway Station

Ride-hailing aggregator Rapido, which operates bike taxi, auto, cab, and parcel delivery services, has launched electric buggy services at KSR Bengaluru City railway station as part of a pilot initiative aimed at easing passenger movement within railway stations. The buggy operations at the station, popularly known as Majestic railway station, began around a month ago, while Rapido's air-conditioned pickup lounge at the station has been operational for the past six months.

The electric buggy service is aimed primarily at senior citizens, passengers traveling with heavy luggage, and commuters seeking quicker access to station exits. The service is open to all passengers at the station and is not restricted to Rapido users. Passengers are charged a fixed fare of Rs 12 per seat for transport from the railway platforms to the pickup area outside the station. The fare has been fixed by railway station authorities.

Rapido is now running the buggy service as a pilot in KSR Bengaluru City and may be expanded to other railway stations in the future. The company has also established a dedicated, fully air-conditioned Rapido Lounge at the station where travelers can unwind and escape the heat while waiting for their ride. Passengers are transported directly from the platform to Rapido's organised pickup point, where autos and cabs are available for immediate boarding.

Rapido's on-ground team is stationed throughout the process to assist with luggage and navigation, ensuring every commuter feels supported and safe. The company added that passengers who book a Rapido ride from the station can redeem the buggy fare against their ride fare, effectively making the buggy ride free for them. Rapido said it is providing a stress-free travel experience, ensuring passengers arrive at their destination relaxed and refreshed.

Rapido now operates waiting area-cum-booking kiosks at KSR Bengaluru City, Sir M Visvesvaraya Terminal in Byappanahalli, Yeswantpur, and Hoodi railway stations. Meanwhile, Namma Yatri has kiosks at Krishnarajapuram and Whitefield railway stations.
