Rajasthan's Largest Solar Power Plant Commissioned Under PM Kusum Scheme
Jaipur, Rajasthan - In a major milestone for the state's renewable energy sector, Rajasthan's largest solar power plant under the PM Kusum scheme has been commissioned at Tala (Kunda ki Dhani) in Jaipur district. The plant, with a capacity of 4.9 MW, has been set up in Dekla village, connected to the 33 kV substation at Tala under the Kunda ki Dhani power sub-division of Jaipur Discom (North).
Spread over around 24 bighas of land, the project will supply daytime electricity for agricultural use to 437 farmers, an official said. Under Component-C of the PM Kusum scheme, solar plants of up to 5 MW capacity can be installed. Officials said this is the highest-capacity plant established in the state under the scheme so far.
The new plant is expected to generate an average of around 25,000 units of electricity per day. This is a significant development in Rajasthan's renewable energy landscape, which has seen a total of 1,819 solar plants with a combined capacity of 4,027 MW installed across the state under Components A and C of the scheme.

Interestingly, the new plant surpasses the state's previous largest plant, a 4.84 MW facility under Ajmer Discom. The commissioning of this new plant is expected to boost the state's renewable energy capacity and provide a sustainable source of energy for agricultural use to a large number of farmers.
| Scheme Component | Number of Plants | Combined Capacity (MW) |
|---|---|---|
| A | 1,819 | 3,037 MW |
| C | 1,819 | 4,027 MW |
| Total | 3,638 | 7,064 MW |
