Paramount Skydance President Jeff Shell to Step Down Amid Ongoing Legal Battles
Paramount Skydance announced on Wednesday that Jeff Shell would be stepping down as the company's president and board member. This decision comes after a tumultuous period for Shell, who became president of the company following the merger with Skydance Media last year. As president, Shell oversaw the day-to-day operations of the company.
Shell's tenure has been marred by controversy, including a $150 million lawsuit filed against him by R.J. Cipriani, a Vegas gambler and FBI informant. Cipriani accused Shell of breaking a promise to develop a music show. In response, Shell filed a countersuit against Cipriani last month, alleging extortion and defamation, as reported by the Los Angeles Times.
This latest development marks the latest in a series of allegations against Shell. In April 2023, Shell was fired as chief executive of NBCUniversal amid allegations of inappropriate conduct with a female CNBC reporter, according to Deadline. Despite these allegations, law firm Gibson Dunn appeared to have cleared Shell of Cipriani's claim that the executive had leaked confidential and potentially explosive information, as reported by Deadline.
