Nvidia Expands AI Operations in India Amid Ambitious Growth Projections
Nvidia's Endorsement Sends Marvell Shares Soaring
Nvidia chief executive Jensen Huang has hailed Marvell Technology as the "next trillion-dollar company," a statement that sent Marvell shares surging 32.5 percent on Tuesday, marking the company's biggest single-day gain on record. The comments, made at the Computex trade show in Taipei, pushed Marvell's stock to a fresh all-time high, with the company's market value now standing at more than $250 billion.
Marvell's growth is particularly notable for India, where the company has a significant engineering presence. Over one-fifth of Marvell's global workforce is based in India, with teams located in Bengaluru, Pune, Hyderabad, and Chennai. This makes India Marvell's largest base outside the United States.
At the heart of Marvell's expansion in India is the company's 100,000 sq ft innovation hub in Pune. Here, engineers work on custom AI chips, advanced sub-3nm semiconductor research, and photonics integration. Marvell's chief development officer, Sandeep Bharathi, revealed in a 2024 interview with DataQuest that work on next-generation 2nm chip technologies was already underway in India.

While Nvidia dominates AI processors used to train large language models, Marvell focuses on the networking and connectivity layer inside AI data centres. These systems move data rapidly between thousands of chips working together. Marvell designs custom AI chips, networking silicon, interconnects, Ethernet solutions, and storage controllers for cloud computing and AI infrastructure. According to its annual filing, data centre-related business accounted for more than 74 percent of Marvell's fiscal 2026 revenue.
The endorsement from Nvidia comes after the two companies deepened ties in March, announcing a partnership to integrate Marvell into Nvidia's NVLink Fusion ecosystem. Nvidia also completed a $2 billion investment in Marvell through a Series A Convertible Preferred Stock issuance on the same day.
| Company | Market Value (in billions) |
|---|---|
| Nvidia | $1.1 trillion |
| Marvell Technology | $250 billion |
Marvell's expansion into photonics, a technology that uses light instead of electricity to move data faster and more efficiently inside AI systems, is also gaining traction. The company acquired Celestial AI and XConn Technologies earlier this year to strengthen its optical connectivity and switching capabilities. With India playing a growing role in Marvell's global semiconductor push, the company is now thrust deeper into the spotlight as investors search for the next wave of AI infrastructure winners beyond Nvidia itself.
