NVIDIA Executive Salary Filings Show Median Compensation at 4.7 Crore Rupees
NVIDIA Boosts H-1B Hiring Amid Tighter US Immigration Environment
In a move that contrasts with other major tech employers, NVIDIA has secured certification for about 1,200 H-1B positions in the first two quarters of fiscal 2026, up from nearly 1,000 certifications in the same period last year. This trend indicates a continued push by the AI chipmaker to attract global engineering and research talent.
According to federal labor filings reviewed by Mint, NVIDIA's increased reliance on H-1B visa hiring stands out amidst a tighter US immigration environment. In contrast, Google saw approved H-1B hires decline to around 2,200 in the latest quarter from about 5,100 a year earlier, while Amazon's approvals fell from roughly 6,100 to 4,300 over the same period.
NVIDIA's hiring focus is on key areas such as AI infrastructure, chip design, software engineering, and advanced computing roles. The filings suggest that the company is prioritizing talent acquisition in these areas as global competition in artificial intelligence intensifies.

Business Insider reported that NVIDIA chief executive Jensen Huang has repeatedly stressed the importance of immigrant talent to the company's growth, noting that global hiring remains central to its strategy. However, H-1B filings only reflect base salaries and do not include stock awards, bonuses, or other incentives, which are a major part of compensation at NVIDIA.
According to Business Insider, AI researchers at NVIDIA can earn base salaries exceeding ₹4 crore, placing them among the company's highest-paid technical employees. Roles in chip engineering and systems architecture also command high compensation, with salaries rising above ₹4 crore for senior specialists working on next-generation AI infrastructure.
| Company | H-1B Approvals (Q1 2026) | H-1B Approvals (Q1 2025) |
|---|---|---|
| NVIDIA | 1,200 | 500 |
| 2,200 | 5,100 | |
| Amazon | 4,300 | 6,100 |
Together, the reports by Mint and Business Insider indicate that NVIDIA is continuing to aggressively invest in specialized global talent even as peer companies scale back overseas hiring.
