Norges Bank Acquires 0.9 Percent Stake in Emcure Pharmaceuticals for Rs 289.47 Crore
Norges Bank has made a significant investment in the pharmaceutical sector, acquiring nearly 1 percent stake in Emcure Pharmaceuticals from the affiliate of Bain Capital for over Rs 289 crore via open market transactions on April 29. The transaction was conducted on the National Stock Exchange, where Emcure Pharmaceuticals shares hit an intraday record high of Rs 1,769 on Wednesday before ending at a new closing high of Rs 1,729.9, up 7.57 percent amid high volumes.
According to the bulk deals data published on the exchange, Norges Bank on account of the Government Pension Fund Global acquired 18 lakh shares (0.9 percent stake) in the pharmaceutical firm for Rs 289.47 crore, from BC Investments IV, an affiliate of US-based private investment firm Bain Capital. The transaction price was Rs 1,608.2 per share. BC Investments IV held 3.87 percent stake in Emcure as of March 2026.

Meanwhile, Accretion Pharmaceuticals shares also closed at a new high of Rs 103.5 on the National Stock Exchange, freezing at 5 percent upper circuit amid high volumes. Unicorn Fund has bought 67,200 equity shares in the pharma company for Rs 68.94 lakh at Rs 102.6 per share.
SG Finserve, too, touched a new intraday high of Rs 581 before ending at a fresh closing high of Rs 565.75 with a 4.22 percent rally, possibly after the promoter increasing stake in the company. The trading volume was above average. Promoter entity S Gupta Holding Private Limited has bought 3.75 lakh shares (0.56 percent stake) in SG Finserve for Rs 21.15 crore at Rs 564.15 per share.
