Nifty 50's Worst-Performing Stocks of Last Month: April Update
Market Rebounds as Valuation Reset Provides Relief to Investors
The month of March proved to be a challenging period for stock market investors as they navigated a perfect storm of geopolitical concerns, crude oil shocks, and heavy foreign investor selloffs. As a result, the Nifty 50 witnessed its worst monthly fall in six years, with several index stocks declining by 15-20%. However, despite the lingering headwinds, the valuation reset has improved investor confidence, leading to a 8.23% month-to-date rise in the Nifty.
The correction has brought valuations closer to long-term averages, with large-cap valuations now near 18-19x. While not cheap, they are no longer expensive. DSP Mutual Fund, in its strategy report, expressed a constructive view on the Indian stock market, citing the correction in valuations as a key factor. The fund also noted that India's valuation premium versus global peers has corrected, improving relative attractiveness.
