Navi Mumbai Airport Expected to Reach Full Capacity by End of Year
Navi Mumbai International Airport Sees Significant Growth in Passenger Traffic
The Adani Group-owned Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIA) is expected to handle 50,000 passengers daily by the end of this year, with an estimated 380 flights every day. This growth is a significant increase from the current daily traffic of 20,000 passengers and 150 air traffic movements (ATMs).
The Greenfield Airport, which began commercial operations with domestic flights on December 25 last year, has seen a steady rise in passenger traffic. Currently, the airport handles an average of 20,000 passengers per day with 150 ATMs. However, with the upcoming summer schedule, the airport is expected to see a significant surge in traffic.
According to sources, IndiGo operations currently account for 70 per cent of the airport's total daily flights, which is expected to increase to 80 per cent. The airline's commitment to international operations has been a significant factor in the airport's growth, with the facility set to start international flight services with about 16 arrivals and departures each.

However, the international launch has been deferred due to the ongoing war in the Gulf region. Despite this, the airport is seeing interest from international airlines, with some approaching for long-haul flights. Discussions are ongoing with these airlines, but no definitive timeline has been set for the launch.
