MarketSmith Recommends Five Stocks for April 13
Indian Stock Market Sees Boost Amid Global Sentiment Shift
The Indian stock market indices, Sensex and Nifty 50, witnessed a significant increase of over 1% on Friday, April 10, driven by heightened buying activity in banking stocks and a positive trend in global markets.
The 30-share BSE Sensex climbed 918.60 points or 1.20% to close at 77,550.25, while the Nifty 50 gained 275.50 points or 1.16% to close at 24,050.60. In terms of weekly performance, the BSE benchmark gained 4,230.7 points or 5.77%, while the Nifty 50 rose by 1,337.5 points or 5.88%.
However, the Gift Nifty Live Chart is indicating a weak start for the Indian stock market today, with a premium of 337 points from the Nifty futures' previous close of 24,101. According to Hariprasad K, SEBI-registered Research Analyst and Founder, Livelong Wealth, Indian markets are set to begin the week on a weak note, with Gift Nifty indicating a gap-down opening near the 23,700 zone.

Comparison of Weekly Performance
| Index | Weekly Gain | Percentage Change |
|---|---|---|
| BSE Sensex | 4,230.7 | 5.77% |
| Nifty 50 | 1,337.5 | 5.88% |
The negative start is largely driven by deteriorating global sentiment following fresh geopolitical escalation in the Middle East. The failure of U.S.–Iran negotiations over the weekend has heightened concerns of a prolonged conflict, further intensified by reports of a U.S. naval blockade on Iranian ports.
