LinkedIn Announces Mass Layoffs Amid Industry-Wide Shift to AI-Driven Restructuring
LinkedIn Announces Job Cuts Affecting Over 600 Employees
LinkedIn has announced a significant round of job cuts, impacting over 600 employees. According to a report in the New York Post, a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) filing revealed that 606 LinkedIn employees have been informed of permanent layoffs. The layoffs are set to take effect on July 13.
The affected locations include the company's Mountain View office in California, where 352 employees will be let go. Additionally, 66 remote employees based in the same city will also be impacted. San Francisco will see 108 employees laid off, while 59 employees in Sunnyvale and 21 in Carpinteria will also be affected.
This move comes as LinkedIn's parent company, Microsoft, begins a broader restructuring effort. Microsoft has announced buyout offers that could impact nearly 7% of its workforce, affecting around 8,750 employees out of a total of 125,000 people.

The layoffs are part of LinkedIn's efforts to "reinvent how we work" and shift investments toward infrastructure and long-term priorities. According to an internal memo from LinkedIn CEO Daniel Shapero, the company will reduce roles across various business functions, including marketing, engineering, product, and others. Furthermore, LinkedIn is reportedly reducing spending on marketing campaigns, vendor expenses, customer events, and office space.
Interestingly, this move comes despite LinkedIn's recent success in reporting 12% year-on-year revenue growth in its third-quarter earnings.

| San Francisco, CA | 108 |
| Sunnyvale, CA | 59 |
